I wonder if it would be possible to configure my #postfix mail server to reject emails from #GMail and #Microsoft (replying they are not accepted because of spying users) 🤔
Is it a good idea? Is there anybody doing that?
I know it will cut me out of many contacts but I really don't want to be targeted by their algorithms.

#email #privacy

@adele I really wanted to try that.

Another idea: configure your smtp server to, when recipient is GAFAM, remove the body, replace by a URL, opening the URL in browser show actual body (after a little challenge (form POST) because GAFAM open every URL you send to gmail). People could reply to you from there.

Yes your meta-data have been stolen but at least only the human will see the body.

@lutindiscret I could impose pgp encryption too 😉

@adele yes. I think you could reuse some piece of code to encrypt bodies with a key that is in the fragment of the URL sent, like zerobin. Also, when the person reply, you could tune the sent email by adding well defined threadid, messageids, etc... so the reply will show in a thread in your mailbox transparently like if it was a normal reply.

@lutindiscret yes https://privatebin.info/ is a good idea to do that. Thanks.

@adele I won't try to sell you delta.chat again but with https://autocrypt.org/ support you could, at the same moment you intercept the body, extract the public key which is proposed for the exchange. So your platform will be 0-setup.

@adele another idea: you could maybe plug it to a @simplelogin and generate a unique mail address as the sender to preserve anonymity... but then it comes to how can the recipient know it's you 🤔

@lutindiscret in fact, the best solution would be that postfix convert outgoing mail to GAFAM into a privatebin link with explanation.

@adele i don't know privatebin UI but don't forget to add a "click to view" step (a dummy form that make a POST is sufficient) or GAFAM will scrape the content and defeat the whole purpose (they do it for every URL in every email, virus detection among other reasons).

@adele also would privatebin be able to store attachment to download? 🤔

@adele well for attachments you could have a first step that upload files to a one-click hosting self-hosted thing like https://framagit.org/fiat-tux/hat-softwares/lufi or any of https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted#file-transfer---single-click--drag-n-drop-upload and add the links to the body 🤔

Also may https://onionshare.org/ would help 🤔
