What, now you’re telling me the fish pond not for trying out your fishing gear?

My local Cabelas has an archery range for trying out your bow. My local gun store as an indoor shooting range for trying out your gun. My local Land Rover dealership has a little off road course for trying out your truck…

See, this is perfectly logical!

MotoAsh,

I mean, even if they were for trying out gear, I don’t think they’d appreciate you trying to run off with their fish.

If they didn’t want people to run off with their fish, they shouldn’t call themselves Bass Pro Shops.

See that's a common misconception. It's actually a pro shop for the bass

Those bass are real masochists.

grue,

Hey, it ain’t no “Bass Pro Charity!”

    I’m going to go with a terminal case of “nothing better to do”

    helenslunch,

    It’s the NY Post dude.

    Millennials and Gen Z don’t visit web pages; they only use apps.

    They're called Zoomers.

    ColeSloth,

    I like that they’re working with some animal cruelty people. At a hunting and fishing store. Over a guy who netted a fish without hooking it and dragging it through 50 feet of water to reel in.

    I mean, I get it, but it’s still kinda funny. Guy scooped up a fish in a net: animal cruelty.

    Cap,

    At least the persons involved were smart enough to film the incident so they'd never get caught

    glimse,

    It was someone else filming it

    Cap,
    Cap avatar

    @glimse It's been a day or so now but I thought the article said he and two other people went to the store to do this so I assumed it was one of the others filming so they could post it for fake Internet points.

    FFS, what is it going to take to get people to stop using Murdoch rags as a source. Don’t make them profits by clicking through to their sites.

    YoBuckStopsHere,

    Keep in mind that not everyone restricts themselves to only pro-progressive reading sources. It’s good to read all ends of the spectrum so that you don’t find yourself in an information vacuum.

    FlyingSquid,
    @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

    It’s not about an information vacuum, it’s about not generating revenue for the Murdochs.

    YoBuckStopsHere,
    @YoBuckStopsHere@lemmy.world avatar

    That’s what ad blockers are for.

    FlyingSquid,
    @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

    They make money just by adding to their page view count. Because then they can justify charging advertisers higher rates.

    YoBuckStopsHere,
    @YoBuckStopsHere@lemmy.world avatar

    That’s how it used to work, but ad companies haven’t counted page views in a decade. It’s about ad views. That is why so many sites have the stupid ad blocker popup so you can’t see their content with a blocker on. Of course you can just disable javascript on the site settings to stop that.

    FlyingSquid,
    @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

    Is it really worth assuming that everyone here has an ad blocker and a javascript blocker? Because otherwise you’re generating revenue for the Murdochs, aren’t you?

    If you want to give a conservative perspective, I can’t believe there is no better source than the New York Post.

    YoBuckStopsHere,
    @YoBuckStopsHere@lemmy.world avatar

    I would hate trying to be online without one.

    Murdoch news orgs are an information vacuum. People who watch Fox News are less informed than those who watch none at all.

    sploosh,

    Keep in mind that many people restrict their news sources to those not actively hostile to objective truth.

    9point6,

    It’s also not good to support Murdoch and anything he’s associated with given he has effectively used propaganda to influence the politics of several countries for decades.

    By engaging with Murdoch media, you do worse than find yourself in an information vacuum, you pollute your existing understanding of events.

    bedrooms,

    That doesn't mean you have to reference bat shit like NYP though...

    Xanthrax,
    @Xanthrax@lemmy.world avatar

    Take the word “pro” out, and you’re solid. I also like to diversify my news intake.

    ChicoSuave,

    “all ends of the spectrum” is how crazy conspiracies becomes main stream since idiots don’t know how to discern between news and propaganda.
