TheJims,

The Trump name is synonymous with fraud

Any other person that did this would be in jail. Can’t say your house is worth $1million to use as collateral in a loan but then turn around and report it as $1 to the government.

Why did it take so fucking long for anyone to do anything about it?

fiat_lux,

For anyone else wondering but who doesn't want to click:

Manhattan prosecutors had looked into bringing criminal charges over the same conduct but declined to do so

If not successfully appealed, the order would strip Trump of his authority to make strategic and financial decisions over some of his key properties in the state.

So again, the worst punishment for the rich is having a small portion of their ill-gotten gains taken away. The people of Manhattan need to get on their prosecutor's cases and get some criminal charges going.

jordanlund,

It’s a little bit more than that, but we won’t know what until the trial on Monday.

Possible outcomes:

Trump org is dissolved.
Assets are seized.
Trump, Jr., and Eric are banned from ever being corporate officers in NY.
5 year ban on obtaining loans.

fiat_lux,

Here's hoping, but I dont have much faith that they haven't already shell-gamed the good assets into other non-NY companies.

Weslee,

If I commit fraud = jail time

Rich person commits fraud = slap on the wrist, and a telling off

homesweethomeMrL,

Engoron found that Trump consistently overvalued Mar-a-Lago, inflating its value on one financial statement by as much as 2,300%. The judge also rebuked Trump for lying about the size of his Manhattan apartment. Trump claimed his three-story Trump Tower penthouse was nearly three times its actual size, valuing it at $327 million.

Huh. Who knew?

I mean besides everyone not in the Qult.

carl_dungeon,

But he’s such an honest, stand up guy- the very personification of the law and order party! It cant be true, next thing you’re gonna tell me is he has nearly 100 felony indictments.

Trump has long insisted he did nothing wrong. His son, Eric, railed against the decision Tuesday in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, calling it “an attempt to destroy my father and kick him out of New York.”

Brother, we want you all out of our society! Not just out of NY.

I love how their comments like that always ignore that large amounts of factual evidence showing wrongdoing was demonstrated at the trial.

I’m sure this was required reading in the Trump household.
