Liz Cheney is starting to float the notion of running third party in 2024, and it's becoming more and more clear that that has to happen in order to keep Trump out of office. The right person launching a third party run could very easily prvide a more sensible home for people who still call themselves Republicans, but feel politically homeless.
The right wing in America cares about winning above all else, and at any cost. It's yet to be seen whether any of them are sensible enough to look beyond the next election, and realize that a second Trump presidency would essentially end politics as we know it. The uncertainty of a future politic under another Trump presidency should frighten right wing politicians, because they will not know how to gain power in such a landscape.
It's obvious that the "also-rans" in the Republican primary are all competing to be the best loser - with the only one who dares criticize Trump lined up to be the next out the door (Chris Christie). The GOP is full fascist sycophants now, which makes it a prime time for a competitive third party to emerge.
