So my kitten, Gizmo, we've finally given free reign off the house overnight for the past two nights. I think it's going really well. He's calmed down quite a bit now that he's roaming the house fulltime. We really had to wait for our cat Sakura to be more comfortable with him. Loki had been fine with him for awhile. I will say, Gizmo is still a hyper active kitten, but it seems to have helped a lot if the past couple of days are anything to go by!
One awesome thing about this is Gizmo did sleep cuddled into my arms for a bit last night. That was something that October (RIP) did almost every night. Gizmo also purred loudly while doing so which is also something October did. He did all this in his own Gizmo-way of course. Which means constant movement for like 5 minutes and shoving his cold nose into my shoulder. I don't know if he'll ever do it again. But, still it made me really happy.
@tehjessica they know exactly what we need. My husband had a cat that slept under the covers with him, curled up in his arm every night. It was her spot. None of our other kitties would tolerate it. After she passed, we waited a couple years, and happened to adopt a new kitten that bonded with him. She quickly found that under the covers, curled up in his arm spot and it's now her favorite thing too. Somehow, they know.
@TeaghanPlays I think you're right. Because I have two other cats and both of them slept with me curled in my arm (under the covers, probably the same as you're describing) once or twice after October passed. They haven't really done it again, but I'm hoping Gizmo will keep doing it. I got used to have a cat sleep with me most of the time for the past 11 years!
