If Trump is convicted (and he probably will be on at least two of the crimes he's charged with) and IF it looks like he's going to jail, I think he'll leave the country, making some speech about returning when justice is restored or something. He has his own private jet, for one thing. Would he be so blatant as to flee to Russia? His handlers would surely take him in. He might well go there as being the most secure option. And of course Vlad will want to debrief him more thoroughly this time.

He might flee to Emirates rather than Russia.

I suspect that prosecutors are secretly rooting for him to flee. It would make everyting much easier for them.
Although of course their duty would be to prevent that...

Yes, but he failed at his mission e.g. he did not pull the US out of NATO. I am assuming that Putin wants him to stay in the US and keep fighting for a re-election, so that he can finish his mission.

@JohnShirley2023 I don't have such a close personal relationship with him as you seem to have to know this, but I will wager you $100 that he does not flee the country.

--Amazing: Jack Smith tried to impose a gag order on Twitter by arguing Trump was likely to "flee from prosecution" if it came out that his account had been seized. DC district court then affirmed the validity of this claim. Later, the claim was mysteriously retracted as "errant" (@mtracey. August 9, 2023)

@Bernard It was challenged and the judge agreed with the challenge, I don't recall the reason.

@JohnShirley2023 Convincing a judge and the public he is actually a flight risk was necessary to justify the gag order about stealing his Twitter communications.

@Bernard @JohnShirley2023 Read the highlighted paragraph. The court did not rely on that.

You are right which makes it strange. They did end up accepting that Trump was a risk to flee, even though the Justice Department ended up claiming that they actually ignored it. @JohnShirley2023
