How is your local weather affecting your season for this year?

Tell us in the comments how it affects you.

Bernard,
@Bernard@friends.ravergram.club avatar

@compost
I have been watching massive geoengineering operations here in California spraying the skies to modify the weather. After years of drought, they made it pour the last two years. The chemicals are changing the PH of the soil and poisoning us, but we have plenty of water.

If we talk so much about the on our account, it is because it is affecting my health. We are not brainwashed and any media does not influence us.

Working outdoors has made me more reactive to the pollens and this spring is pretty brutal.

I grew up on a farm surrounded by fields and woods, I used to help with the hay work in the summer. I was not always allergic. The fact that this year, it is hitting me that bad is not normal.

If you happen to be a denier, I really could not give less of a damn about your opinion and you are very unwelcome here.

We are experiencing firsthand the consequences of the neglect of capitalism. And to us, it is a crime against humanity to be so shameless about this.

Bernard,

@compost
I am very curious how your personal allergies are related to a change in climate. More rainfall can mean more blooms, and a physiological change can make one more susceptible, but I don't know what else could cause it.

How can you call yourself a civilized country when you can’t even keep guns outside of schools, and your solution to gun violence in schools is either to have armed guards at the entrance or give teachers guns as well?

Is it a civilized Western country or is it the fucking far west?

How come most of the other countries around the world have figured out long ago how to send kids to school without fears of them being shot, and the richest country in the world can’t figure out how to solve such a simple problem yet?

A hundred years ago my dad and his schoolmates would bring their rifles to school for firing class. They didn't have any problems, but society was different. I expect we will see fewer deranged trannys killing children and teachers in Tennessee now that teachers will be armed. https://okcfox.com/news/nation-world/nashville-police-identify-victims-suspect-in-nashville-school-mass-shooting-audrey-elizabeth-hale-evelyn-dieckhaus-hallie-scruggs-william-kinney-cynthia-peak-katherine-koonce-mike-hill-christian

Just about every public media figure with a big audience who rants on about free speech keeps promoting X and rarely ever mentions decentralization. Greenwald, Dore, Tucker, Taibbi, Shellenberger..They also use Iphones and complain about the NSA taking over their devices.

Sometimes I wonder if their living depends on having centralized services to complain and report about. If platforms faded into irrelevance, perhaps many of them would too.

Your suggestion for the security apparatus to coup another democratically elected leader or candidate is abhorrent. If it does not cause a full scale revolution, it would clear the way for RFK to be elected whose positions are similar.

Another textbook example of enshittification: profit through rental when profit margin become too thin.

Hardware companies are no longer happy with making money out of the hardware purchases that you make. And not even with all the data that they scoop and sell about you.

Their ultimate goal is for you to pay a subscription in order to keep using their hardware.

Everybody wants you to subscribe to everything. Everybody wants money to come in no matter what.

This race towards the bottom has reached such nauseous heights that it requires public intervention.

Subscription-based models can obviously exist, but, especially in the case of hardware, they should always be sold as add-ons on top of the physical product.

The product should be able to operate with or without the subscription. And even if the producing company goes out of business.

Finally, I'm no legal expert, but I don't see how "genuine cartridge checks" processes etc. can be compatible with the right to repair - and inter-operability more broadly.

@blacklight Wall Street is pushing most companies to optimize the ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) metric. They call it the subscription economy. I call it you will own nothing and be happy economy.

Those in power figured out that humans understand the world through stories. Narrative managers master the ability to manipulate people through narrative. A good way to counteract the narratives fed to us by government and MSM is to look at counter narratives and find some truth in the middle. Here are some good ones I have found:

@0x58 This incident shares characteristics to this one: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38783112#38784601.

Apple needs plausible deniability that they do not intentionally create back doors for governments. If implemented in certain ways, they can just say it is a zero day CVE until someone finds and reveals it widely.

People who think Apple does not cooperate with the biggest governments and security apparatuses in the world may be naive.

    @jazzilla @Nazareno People are only allowed into power positions if kompromat on them exists. If you don't have dirt on someone, you can't rely him to stay in line. Whitney Webb's 2 part book One Nation Under Blackmail explains the history and current state in detail.

    What kind of processes could prevent or revert the situation we are in?

    Bernard,
    @Bernard@friends.ravergram.club avatar

    @jazzilla @Nazareno Perhaps where we can influence group leadership we intentionally choose people who have no current position of power. Those who were not let into power positions by the mafia gatekeepers are probably not compromised.

    For those leaders we know are compromised and we have no other way to remove them, your second option fits.

Admittedly I occasionally do it for mischievous fun here in SF where it is something of an epidemic.

    There are some truths that when you think about them, they can inform your actions. The biggest one is that there is enough food that no human should go hungry. There are enough resources so that everyone can have shelter. The fact that we have hunger and homelessness is a direct result of billionaires and the lack of will to fix distribution of the food and houses. It is a direct result of greed. -> more

    Bernard,
    @Bernard@friends.ravergram.club avatar

    @jeffowski
    I am not taking a side but rather adding context to understand power dynamics. If we do not understand something, we cannot fix it. When it comes to power, it is basically a zero sum game. If everybody is king, nobody is king. I generally support giving people with less power more, but with few exceptions, those with the power will not voluntarily relinquish it. I am interested to understand a solution you might propose.

    Bernard,
    @Bernard@friends.ravergram.club avatar

    @jeffowski
    It is my observation and understanding that some people wield power over others. I am interested in how they do it to discover how they can be upended or power shifted back to the powerless to ameliorate their suffering from hunger and other hardships.

    I am not sure how you read what I said to imply that those in power deserve that power, because I largely do not believe that. I was providing a perspective of those in power.

    Bernard,
    @Bernard@friends.ravergram.club avatar

    @jeffowski and if you follow me, you will know very well where I stand and that I am not sitting on any sidelines.

    Bernard,

    @jeffowski I am not arguing both sides. You need to know the devil to defeat it. Ignorance is a losing strategy. The epic tale of Beowulf is about that. I want you to be better equipped for the battle.
