I'm finding the "not allowed to be able to use hashtags" thing too aggravating. I can type them in but they don't work, because I'm being punished for something that was never explained to me--I also cannot follow people easily now....So how does this migration thing work? You can take your followers and those you follow with you?
@JohnShirley2023 here is a guide. Everything will transfer except your post history. You can export it from your current account and save it locally, and you should, but the import into the new instance part doesn't work yet. So what I recommend is to bookmark all your important posts in the old account before migrating, so you have an index of them at least. The bookmarks themselves will transfer so you'll have easy access to them.
@JohnShirley2023@mrcompletely Ok. Then following that guide will get you moved, but not all of your old posts. Which may or may not go away if you close down your old account after moving (you don’t have to).
@davepolaschek@JohnShirley2023 the bookmark trick resolves that reasonably well if you just leave your old account up (bookmark key posts before moving, then export/transfer bookmarks to the new account).
