Here’s a map of the old railway. The building for Station Enschede-Zuid (now demolished) looks VERY much like the one at Broekheurne. Quite a bit of information on this website! (In Dutch)
This is where the Gronau (DE) – Glane (NL) tramway used to run. There’s a little monument with a rail line and wagon, but the monument is for three people who died in WWII there, when a bomb missed Gronau and landed there.
@jon the line from Bad Bentheim to Nordhorn and further was reopened for public transportation a couple of year ago. I find it a large improvement to the situation before (busses), even though i like cycling that route most of the time.
Oh and as Gronau town centre is about as stereotypical West German as you can imagine, the appropriate thing to do on a Saturday afternoon was... to get a Spaghettieis 🙂
