@riley how did you like the music and the sound design? Personally, I found it delightful and kind of magical that Sagisu is able to reuse recurring musical ideas from the series, yet it doesn't seem cheesey or less impactful every time you hear the same "original" theme that you have already heard from '95.
@BCCDCAB I agree with you 100%. Their only sin is not delivering an orchestral rendition of Cruel Angel's Thesis at some climactic moment. It's literally the most iconic music associated with the original anime, to the point where it's transcended it.
@riley oh man, if they did manage to pull that off, THAT would been the one true "anime op plays during climatic battle" moment to rule all such moments; if they did that, the trope is dead, nothing else will compare and the editors at tvtropes will have to retire the page they have on this trope
@riley Eva 4.0 is the Matrix 4 of Eva, that is to say it goes hard and everyone whining about it is ontologically lacking in media analysis (unlike me ofc)
@thorn beautiful writing, and exactly the reason I loved the movie too. It came hot on the heels of fandoms becoming more and more toxic for the past decade or so. Very timely. Very impactful.
