@nixCraft the fact that this container stuff has grown into its own Death Star ("don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed") has made it too intimidating for me to bother with trying to figure out in any depth, despite being a (non-web) software engineer.
What little I've attempted resulted immediately in frustration with warts, like running a pihole container on my NAS and discovering the NAS is the only thing on my LAN that can't use it for DNS resolution for reasons.
