Lack of publicly accessible toilets, garbage cans and seating is an issue in LA. It discourages people from spending time in areas with lack of services. It's magnified for houseless individuals.

And while New York is the most notoriously bathroom-deficient city in America, it’s hardly unrepresentative. A 2021 report found the United States has only eight public toilets per 100,000 people. Iceland has 56. https://www.thenation.com/article/society/urban-planning-public-services-socialism/

@kswenger Just checked the numbers here in Australia and it looks to be about 73 public toilets per 100,000 people. And we have an official national public toilet app. :) https://www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/national-public-toilet-map-app
