1. It makes my voice sound better (harsher small dog)
2. I play guitar, and needed a mic to record my guitar amp, and so I bought an sm57. Then I needed to do back up vocals in a powerviolence band. I'm not buying a second mic.
3. It's always the hot mic. You could always hear me even when you couldn't hear the lead vocalist.
