One of the best things about growing older is the lowered need to buy stuff at Christmas. Personally I just enjoy catching up with friends over the festive season.

Christmas sales tipped to start early as cost of living pressure bites and shoppers bank on bargains

@timrichards We were enjoying seeing displays of both Halloween and Christmas tat out at the same time in Kmart, BigW etc. Would like more mashups of the two.

@timrichards In the last few years I've mentally taken note of how much I've spent on gifts and I'm pretty sure it's been slowly decreasing - mainly because we only get gifts for nieces/nephews/anyone under 15. Another thing I've tried doing is arguing to push down the limit on Kris Kringle arrangements - some people think that "you can't get anything nice under $100" but if you have three or four KKs to buy for it gets a bit ridiculous!

@chis_r $100! That is ridiculous. Our Secret Santa has a $20 limit. You can definitely get something nice for that, usually food-related (eg good chocolate).
