aaargh my daughter just ripped the cover of her laptop at the hinge

at least it's a lenovo so I have the service manual already and can easily buy the parts, still looks like a >100EUR repair 😐

@peturdainn make sure you replace all cracked plastic nearby. The plastic is essential to prevent flex in the metal parts, and flex means metal fatigue which means more repairs in six months.

I may or may not be speaking from experience...

@FrankGevaerts on further inspection it looks like it's one (big) part, the LCD cover. The hinges look OK, with the typical small footprint to transfer the force from hinge to cover.
