@davep I like the idea but it's hard for young trees to survive the first two years. Especially in dry periods, they need a lot of water to establish a deep root system.

@Nouscat Oh, indeed. I treat them like babies for two years then basically leave them to it. None of that dwarfing rootstock rubbish..

@davep Glad you do! ☺️🌳, in the Netherlands they are cutting down woods with the promise to compensate them. Then they plant many tiny saplings very close together, but forget to water them.... that doesn't work. 🙄🤷

@snooze_cat The fact we're doing it for unknown future generations makes me feel empowered too, especially with edibles like sweet chestnut and walnut.
