That quote from Alfredo Vallota about dissolving the asymmetry of power is something to think about when contemplating how to respond to the risk of giant servers becoming dominant in the fediverse...
@strypey Human Rights is the one doctrine, a prime directive, if you will, that by definition does not pit one party against another in a power struggle. Equal rights for all!

Maybe not, but neither does it prevent any such power struggle. It often serves as the ground on which such struggles are fought. For example, when a comedian tells off-colour jokes at the expense of indigenous people, the comedian's universal human right to freedom of expression is directly contradicted by the indigenous people's universal human right to be free from discrimination of the basis of race.
@KashifShah Who wins that struggle has very little to do with whether they're protected by the doctrine of Human Rights, and much more to do with how much power they have relative to each other.
