NycAuntie,

@macrumors And it’s one of the first things I change.

@macrumors

Which I immediately change. DuckDuckGo is better and more private.

@macrumors
Recently heard the best explanation how much a billion is. Because we have normally little understanding how much that his.

1 billion seconds are 31.71 years
1 million seconds are 0.03171 years (11.57 days)

@macrumors That's insane (if true).

JesseF8693,

@bartvdpoel @macrumors I have no doubt it is. And sadly, most people don't question it. That's why Google the tech giant has any power when there are better options like #DuckDuckGo these days. People just don't care.

defcon,

@JesseF8693 i think it’s grossly unfair to be able to pay to be the default, I hope regulators prevent this from being an option in the future. Having said that, if given the choice, Google would defo be the search engine I use. They’re just so much better than the competition.

JesseF8693,

@defcon So much better? I don't see that at all. DuckDuckGo gives me everything I need. I've been using it for years and have never had an issue.
Regulations though? Nah... not a chance. The monster is too big and most governments are afraid to try and tame it by whatever means necessary.

defcon,

@JesseF8693 I mean, the FTC is busy suing Big Tech left and right, and Google is also going through a massive anti-trust case at the moment. Look at what the EU is doing too.

JesseF8693,

@defcon The EU seems to have the best chance of making a difference, but sadly I think any changes made would only take affect in EU territory, not elsewhere.

defcon,

@JesseF8693 that really depends on what the EU asks for and how inconvenient it would be for tech companies to operate one way here and another way everywhere else. For example, selling iPhones with USB-C in Europe and non USB-C everywhere else was clearly too inconvenient for Apple. And regulatory scrutiny in one jurisdiction does make the company more cautious in other jurisdictions it operates in.

JesseF8693,

@defcon True, but that's hardware. I imagine software would be much easier to deal with only where it needs to be.
