@yunchtime @enron I cannot agree more. My (hopefully false) negative projection is that it'll make mastodon a horrible experience. I'm aware that anyone can scrape the content at any time, and "Meta"surely already does; but I wish to stay away from this as far as possible.
I don't really want to give up mastodon, as a user I can't really block threads as it's whole as far as I'm aware. It's up to the server admins.

Ohne adblocker 15,47MB (!) geladen für ca 1500 Zeichen Text und ein Bild (10kb).

1500 Zeichen txt ca 1.5kB, bisschen Html, ok.
15,47MB? ich glaub ihr habt den Knall nicht gehört. (mit uBlock origin sind es übrigens 6.5MB)

Mit allen "Verschönerungen" sind wenigstens 14MB völlig unnötiger dreck.

(Script für den "Test" ist noch nicht gestartet)

2 screenshots einer spiegel webseite die mit adblockern 6.5MB Datenmüll läd und ohne 15MB. An der Webseite ist nichts besonderes ausser einem text mit ca 1500 zeichen.

@jerry Great find and thanks for sharing this. I find that information is more difficult to find than a few years ago. Not sure what is responsible, but it’s terrible. 20min videos instead of a blogpost, git or forum entry don’t help. maybe it’s worth putting it in the ubuntuforums.org for later searchability?

@itsfoss Cloudflare & privacy? I do not believe it. Cloudflare is helping website owners, yes. But they are also almost exclusively in control what can be seen and what not. It's absolutely against a free and open web in my opinion. (Regardless all their statements)
