davep, An interesting break even study of moving to solar, with electric cars (52k Oz dollars), PV ~15kW (15k? including inverters), 30kWk batteries (34k!)
I'm sure glad I did a DIY 30kWh battery using moody batteries from China (€6,800 including BMS and spare LiFePO4 cells) and a cheapo Zoë (€6,000 including state subsidy and battery purchase). Note that, like me, they're primarily interested in doing what they can to reduce fossil fuel usage rather than just as a cost benefit analysis (I'm also looking at a resilience angle).
We haven't gone for an electric hob, but also have the heat pump.
