Now I wanted to choose the band with less listeners, but Manowar has less listeners on spotify and Accept less listeners on last.fm. So that doesn't help.
@derthomas if you take them 100% seriously there's only loving or hating Manowar. I think they don't take themselves all that seriously and play a lot with this trve metal stuff and if you can find something in that kind of humour you can enjoy them a lot.
@Laird_Dave fair point! I obviously don't know them too well, I was always under the impression that they are dead serious... Didn't even one of em say he would die for metal?
@derthomas I think they're serious about their music and they act like they act because it fits the theme but I do also believe that they have a private personality that at least smiles at the over-the-top acting.
But I might be mistaken and see them through rose-coloured glasses because I enjoy both their music and their act tremendously so take this with a shovel of salt and get your own picture from several sources.

I didn't really listen to them and obviously I don't know them too well... I was under the impression that apart from their die hard fanbase everyone thinks they are sexist right wing idiots... but maybe they are not? My bad then!
@Banur@derthomas Probably they are not Nazi or particularly nasty pieces of works. The Conan-like testosteronic appearance looks more like a gimmick to me.
This worked well for a while, until they started to make albums that doesn't encountered the favor of the public (to say an euphemism, although I liked some songs from WOTW).
And again, "Bridge Of Death" still gave me good chills every time I listen to it.

Well, Manowar was my gateway to metal and the first Albums are still killers, so it's them. And it's very hard with voivod and primordial as competition...
@derthomas This is unfortunate. I'd support Voivod as they are Canadian (from Quebec) but honestly I prefer the music of Accept. So I have to vote with the band I like the most... ACCEPT!
@derthomas Voivod auf jeden! Accept sind so gar nicht meins, ich meine Manowar (ich meine beide 😜) - letztere immerhin mit solidem Unterhaltungswert - und was an Primordial gut sein soll, hab ich nach dem Livegig letzte Woche mit Paradise Lost immer noch nicht nachvollziehen können.
@derthomas oh man, this is tough. I loved Primordial for years, since I saw them play tiny clubs in the mid 90s, and then last decade Alan started going off about "SJWs" (by which he seemed to very much mean people like me) not belonging in metal, and now I just feel sad when I hear them, which very much sucks.
He's shut up more recently (or at least, I've not read his articles and posts lately), so I hope he's thought better of that line of bollocks.
But his whole public affect is so confrontational that I can't imagine him walking shit back if called on it.
I mean, I'm still probably going to vote for them, they're one of the great live bands, but fucking hell Alan Averill needs to pipe down and listen to other people occasionally.
@HauntedOwlbear I had no idea, I only know them since a month or so, I started listening to them because they played at a festival two weeks ago. I like their new album, live they were a bit... too many intros for my taste 🤔
I put them into the poll completely random tbh, I didn't do a background check or anything.
I hoped that the people in here will vote out the controversial bands.
@derthomas like, they're not super sketchy or anything, no far right nonsense I've heard of, and their stance on Irish politics is often solid. But gods Alan's elitist crap and presumption of insincerity from people who hold opposing opinions pissed me off.
Similar kind of deal as with Nergal from Behemoth's occasional leanings in that direction, as far as I can work out.
I'm put off enough not to give them my money or time, but it's Inside Baseball enough that I can't judge anyone badly for liking them.
@HauntedOwlbear I would have hoped to find the one band without any controversial characters, all good lads, good music and not dislike at all.
I am pretty sure that this does not apply to all the winners in these polls so far.
