@lichess Nasty move! After this puzzle, black's only hope is underpromoting to knight on e1=N+. It's still an awful situation for black, since the Rd4# mate could happen just about anytime if black makes another mistake.

@lichess 1. Kc2 Re4 (if anything else: 2. Rd4#) 2. f3! (Rook can't move eg. 2. ... Re3.3. Rd4#) 2. ... e2 3. fe e1N+ (only move, if not, still 4. Rd4#) 4. Kb2 Nd3+ 5.Kc2 Draw by repetition.

@lichess king c2. If e2 then rook d4#. If rook e4, f3. The rook flies away or fxe4. Whatever black moves, white has rook d4#.

@lichess I’m not sure at all, but maybe 1. Kc2 (threatening 2. Rd4++), 1. ..Re4. 2. f3.
