as a 20 year mac owner, i don't give a damn about apple anymore. they aren't the same company they were in the mac vs pc era, and the poetic excitement is dead.
it gave me grim joy to see them launch a laptop with "space black" at a premium. this is literally the same move #UltimaOnline did 25 years ago with black tinted platemail armour 🤣
@vga256 I read your toot, tiredly thinking "just another rant about apple.." and did absolutely not see the comparison coming. :blobnerd: I'm running an UO freeshard, and even today there's not much that makes players happier than a brand new armour color.
@driph software-wise it's been a very gradual, but very consistent, decline in quality and creativity over the past ten years. i've rolled back all of my machines to mojave after trying catalina, big sur and monterey. i'm still extremely happy with my 2012-2014-era hardware, but i don't plan on buying ARM-based stuff in the future.
