YouTube just confirmed it launched a "global effort" against users with ad blockers

Here's a tip... instead of subscribing to YouTube Premium or disabling your ad blocker, just subscribe to Nebula. It's what YouTube should have been in the first place, not the trash fire it is today

darkware,

@campuscodi Doesnt have anything I care about watching, all just large creators I don't like. Pure garbage of a platform. We should be picking away at the security of YouTube's ad system. How about making an extension that tricks YouTube into thinking you are consuming the ads but doesnt show them. Also Odysee is far superior to Nebutrash. My goodness why heck is the community shilling this trash, probably all paid to do so.

Healthcarer,

@campuscodi Ads suck.

@campuscodi YouTube is not trash but it has become more revenue driven fs.

@campuscodi why not something like LBRY instead where it's solved at a protocol level?

I just don't get where the hate for a solid product comes from. It's like "hey don't bother with X product, use my same but inferior Y product instead".

It just causes meet the new boss same as the old boss syndrome.

The peertube and LBRY stuff has at least tried to solve the long haul problem of no singular gauntlet of authority.

Sunny,

@campuscodi
I ignored the warning message. So far, no issues.

@campuscodi The problem with is that unlike , it's a with creators, thus it's no real competition.

Needless to say that using , , pfBlockerNG and others does work quite well...

I love Nebula and subscribe to it, but there are a number of creators I follow who aren't on it. I've suggested it to some but they weren't enthusiastic. Maybe they would do it if more people requested it?

@campuscodi

drsbaitso,

@campuscodi Wholly endorsed. Nebula and DropOut are, barring some massive explosion, the last two streaming services I would cancel.

vestige,

@campuscodi Most of the bandwidth I use(d) on YouTube was just listening to public domain music. I get that Google needs to pay for bandwidth, but I'm pretty sure my $5/month DigitalOcean Veilid node uses more bandwidth than I ever used for streaming audio.

@campuscodi Do you mean the NASA thing? What is this Nebula you are talking about?

@campuscodi Are there any stats about how much content it has? Browsing the Videos section doesn't show any clear indication about even how many creators there are. Featured content examples aren't that interesting, so far.
