All decent Americans with a heart support Israel and the innocent Palestinian people and not Netanyahu but it is very disheartening seeing pro Palestinian protest shutting down #DNC headquarters for they're own selfish gain, this is exactly what Trump and the right-wing wants too see, while you're fuming on Emotion screaming never Biden Trump has said on his first day in office he's going to invoke the insurrection Act where you will Never ever protest any person or Issue again.JUST STOP NOW!
@lovelylovely The protest was by a Jewish organization called If Not Now which has advocated for the rights of Palestinians for years. It was was civil disobedience protest. I am familiar with this organization and while the protest is being portrayed in some media outlets as scary and violent, If Not Now doesn’t behave that way.
The protesters probably just weren’t going to shut up and go away until they got the Congresspeople inside to talk to them.
@lovelylovely The police then tried to force them to move and escalated to beating them and using tear gas. According to the reports I’ve seen they injured scores of protesters but only made one arrest, which indicates that the cops were using what they knew to be excessive force to clear those people out.
@MisuseCase Congress is where that happens to talk with elected leaders not at DNC business.Why not just protest without shutting things down. What did that accomplish NOTHING..
@lovelylovely Yes it did a lot of Democratic members of Congress are now discussing putting conditions on American aid to Israel for the first time I can remember.
@lovelylovely It sure is. It wasn’t violent (except for the police, that’s not new) and it seems to have gotten some movement out of Congress.
The President has also put visa bans on Israeli settlers in the West Bank who are terrorizing Palestinians living there, although that may have been in the works for a while before.
