My apologies. Since you did not actually ask how to add alt-text, I made an incorrect assumption regarding your intention.
How to add alt-text:
After you add an image file to a post, click the word "edit" that overlays the right upper corner of the image once the image is uploaded and attached to the post. A new dialog box will open for you to add your alt-text.
