@pixel I personally do not like the loss of ability to organize my data my way that these apps you list prevent, nor the loss of ability to back it up as files.
@pixel I couldn’t afford a Newton so I don’t know what that would be. I’ll see if I can Google it. BeOS had the database file system that was also interesting.
@pixel I wonder how Soup would do with large media files. My sense from server side dev friends is that these don’t belong in a database for performance reasons (but maybe that’s an artifact of the implementation of the usual databases back end devs are using).
@GeekAndDad For a typical DB storing something large like that isn’t usually as efficient as storing a reference to the file path and using the filesystem to fetch the data… but if the filesystem is the DB I dunno?
