Sorry for all the espresso posts lately! To those here for the coding, Swift, and Apple posts — I pinky-promise more are coming soon 😄

@simonbs I don’t drink coffee or espresso, but it’s still been fun to see your experiments :)

First time making an iced latte and decided to add a few pumps of salted caramel syrup. As you can probably tell from all my recent posts, I’m very much enjoying making espresso-based drinks 😄

Espresso shot being poured into a glass with milk, ice, and syrup.

My boss got sick of me bringing in prints from home off my Bambu Lab printer and comparing them to our Enders so he said “Fuck it!” and ordered two Bambu Lab printers for the office.

Woo hoo! My first feature (non project) article for @makemagazine about three amazing teachers who run maker spaces in their schools is in the latest issue of Make, and also live online now (no paywall):

3rd roll of 35mm developed and it looks like j have photos.

Although a batch of ~5 frames in the middle of the roll look woefully under exposed.

I have to be really careful to remember to transfer the settings from my light meter onto the camera. I’ve caught myself a couple of times dialling in the light meter and forgetting to set aperture and exposure time on the body.

Bet that’s what happened.

@schwa One priceless image away from it not mattering what you’ve spent…

GeekAndDad,
@GeekAndDad@mastodon.social avatar

@schwa Used to be able to buy film in 100 foot long rolls and refillable film cartridges and that cut the cost down a lot. If you want to go down that route, I’d be happy to mail you my bulk roller and the cartridges I have left. There’s likely even some amount of long-expired (30 years?) Kodak Tri-X in the bulk roller :)

GeekAndDad,
@GeekAndDad@mastodon.social avatar

@schwa Ha! Great point. I definitely take more photos with digital than I did with film - and I took a lot with film.

GeekAndDad,
@GeekAndDad@mastodon.social avatar

@schwa @Bluedonkey Actually not that much cheaper looking at B&H pricing. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Used to be back in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s.

@schwa It’s definitely fun. I played around a lot in my dad’s darkroom and then the high school darkroom. Nikon FM camera and a cheap lens I bought in a pawn shop. Did a lot of senior yearbook photos and just a lot for fun.

GeekAndDad,
@GeekAndDad@mastodon.social avatar

@schwa Sounds great.

The success rate is vastly different when shooting active subjects vs taking a “walkabout” at the right time of day and paying attention to light and shadow and taking the time to compose one’s shot. For the former my dad used to figure one great shot per 36 exposure roll was doing well. Expected much better for the latter, unsurprisingly. :)

Sounds like a fun and excellent endeavor!

Wonder why iPad Pro's get along w/ just 8GB of RAM? They don't run Electron apps.

    @dxzdb Mac Classic whose case was reassembled incorrectly by someone and the floppy drive isn’t aligned with the a lot; it also needs the analog board recapped (motherboard already was by the guy I bought it from).

    And an SE/30 that’s been sitting in our basement for 10 years and in our barn before that for 10+ years. Solid chance it’s in really bad shape, unfortunately. Courage I need to muster to open it and face the reality, sad though it may be.

    @schwa That’s neat.

    I’m not clear what the comb lines represent. Comb length seems like rate of change of the curve, maybe? What does the distance between comb origins on the curve reflect?

    GeekAndDad,
    @GeekAndDad@mastodon.social avatar

    @schwa Ah, as I thought, rate of change of the curve. Very cool.

    GeekAndDad,
    @GeekAndDad@mastodon.social avatar

    @schwa Thanks. That explains why I couldn’t figure out what it represented :)

    Thanks for the bezier info.

    @schwa Maybe the blend factor reset needs to happen in a swap completion or transaction…. Hmm. Definitely sounds a little tricky (!).

    Unfortunate transactions don’t do what you need because they seem like they should be able to.
