@dh231125 The first and best piece of advice I can give you (I understand you did’t ask :) ) is to follow @lisamelton - she’ll point you to all kinds of cool stuff/posts/people!
@GottaLaff@lisamelton@dh231125 Me….addicting? Get outa here! People have used a LOT of words to describe me but I’ve never been called “addicting” before by someone I wasn’t married to… 🤣
@GottaLaff@lisamelton@dh231125 Aw! I mean this with all truth and sincerity - I really appreciate that post. Life is pretty sucky for me so any kind words - even from complete strangers - is a tiny bit of comfort cutting through the gloom. 🤗
@GottaLaff@lisamelton@dh231125 Me too. I had lunch with him a couple of times when I was in town for Macworld Expos and was email buddies with him for years. I adored him. He actually called me an asshole for heckling him on Broadway. 🤣
I loved his comedy/acting but loved just quietly hanging out with him over lunch in his "quiet time”. He had an amazing, insightful soul and mind and I was devastated when and how he died. 😭
@KingShawn I worked with him for a few years doing improv comedy, socializing some. I can't even look at a photo of him now. I get too upset. @lisamelton@dh231125
@dh231125 He was a genius. I rarely use that word, but the 1st time I saw him, it was electrifying. We used to do improv shows ("Off the Wall") in a ballet studio that we converted into a theater on Fri and Sat nights. I was in the same workshop for that group, performed a few times with them. He was indescribable in person, a fireball. And also the gentlest guy you can imagine. @KingShawn@lisamelton
@GottaLaff@dh231125@lisamelton 1st time I saw him in person was here in Vancouver while shooting Jumanji. He’d drop in for late night (1am!) sets at a local comedy club once or twice a week. You could see he was trying out new material but even then, you could see how his mind was working on the bit in real time.
A year or so later I saw him on a late night talk show and he did some of the same bits. You could see how he had tweaked them to make them even funnier. Genius is the right word. ❤️
@KingShawn That’s what he always did, yes! For us, it was the Comedy Store. And of course, “Off the Wall,” the group I was part of. What a treat to watch him develop that stuff. @dh231125@lisamelton
@GottaLaff@lisamelton@dh231125 Same. 😢 Whenever I see or think of him, I have immense sadness for what we've lost and all I can think about is, “If this person with all the money and resources in the world couldn't take it, what fucking chance do I have?" 😭
(I know his death wasn't as "simple" as that but…)
@GottaLaff@KingShawn@lisamelton@dh231125
My husband is dying from that right now. "Days," they say, or, sometimes, "Could be anytime." It is an awful, awful affliction. He is now reduced to bones held by thin skin, labored breathing, jerking movements, and moans when moved for bathing or diaper changes. There is no person there. It's horrifying and and awe-prompting, both.
@CarlataOld Oh Carlata, I am SO sorry, so very sorry for both of you, for your family!! My heart breaks hearing this. Please know we’re here for you. Sending hugs. @KingShawn@lisamelton@dh231125
Thank you. We've been long separated but he's family and I have a responsibility to him. And now that he's returned to innocence, I can feel tender toward him again. He's had a rough time, poor boy.
Also, pro tip: fill out your profile bio a bit more and get yourself an avatar or photo. That way other folks can make sure you're not a 'bot or a fly-by-night troll.
