@jiminfantino welcome back Jim! Best I can say is to follow hashtags for things you're interested in and then engage with people from there. The account @FediTips and their website are a great resource too
@action_jay Can concur that absent an opaque recommendation algorithm, bootstrapping your follow list by following hashtags of interest and then following the interesting people that post with those hashtags is the way to go.
I also group people into lists based on how I know them and then dive into those lists’ feeds, even if they don’t always post about that topic. For example, @jiminfantino is in my “Music” list.
