I do have one dedicated laptop that I don’t upgrade the anymore. I use that for live situations. I have both Bitwig and Live running on it.
I plan on getting one more update for Live on my desktop/recording iMac. And then leave it at that as well. You are right, I don’t really need 99.99% of the upgrades. So maybe Bitwig will work well for you. BTW, it was created by folks who split off of Ableton.
