Over the holidays VLGF and I looked at dismay at our local and #provincial#covid monitoring results (#wastewater, hospitalizations, new cases etc) and decided that when we went back in public, or to work, we'd be #masking.
My first day back on Tuesday I ran into the COO and CEO (med. size company) in the breakroom, me sporting my mask, and they asked why the mask Spruce?
After a pause* I said Heck, I don't know where any of you have been or who you've been licking over the holidays which got a laugh, but then I followed up with *No seriously; all the markers are trending upward again in fact they're approaching the bad times from the start of 2022. And, you know, cold and flue season. Remember 10 yrs ago with sars or bird flu N1 whatever and we put hand sanitizer in the bathrooms and conference rooms and *
suddenly people weren't getting as sick in the winter? Yeah.
*I'd keep an eye on things; we might be prudent to roll back to WFH thing if things get worse. To which they smiled in that way executives do when they want to acknowledge they heard you but they ain't gonna listen to you *and said maybe we will.
Seriously, I should run this place.
There's always lighting the place on fire I suppose.
The galling part is since I've been back in the office on Tuesday, I've been in over a dozen meetings with coworkers, eleven of which all of the participants are on fucking Zoom FROM THEIR OFFICES. Why the fuck couldn't I be at home in my pajamas for this? Fucking stupid.
