I've self hosted a few different instances, Masto, Pleroma, Akkoma, Rebased, CalcKey, and more recently GoToSocial but snac is, by far, the simplest to set up

@paul true. Also, by far, the simplest to backup and move. Rsync (with -H) is your friend, and using zfs compression is helping to keep down the use of the storage.

I'm not using ZFS so we'll have to see how that goes... but maybe as a single user instance it will survive ok-ish

Another snac user over here. As far as "setup" goes, for awhile I ran the single executable in tmux. It doesn't generate noticeable load on the machine that runs it, and I'm not even sure how to make it do that. Very happy with it so far.
