It seems like some peoples' conception of the world is one where billionaires are these bad actors nefariously pulling the levers of capitalism, an otherwise reasonable and workable system, to funnel wealth into their pockets.
But capitalism is the system that multiplies and concentrates capital. That is its fundamental function, of which billionaires are an inevitable side effect.

Some who believe in "free markets" or simply haven't dipped their toe into the literature probably disagree that the concentration part is a fundamental function, that you can somehow have the multiplication without the concentration. But everything about the world we're living in shows that to be a lie. Wealth has concentrated, with apocalyptically awful consequences; all attempts to halt that dynamic have been crushed by capital, which now controls our legal and regulatory systems.

So while I'm totally in favor of eating the rich and [redacted] the billionaires specifically, the thing we need to change is the underlying system. And any changes that counter those basic tendencies of capital end up looking like the workers more fully owning the means of production, capital's power being circumscribed in various ways, etc.

@jplebreton When systems change is bleak, Ahab's "from hell's heart I stab at thee" is appealing. One of the side effects of emphasizing systems issues above all else is that it can be disempowering.

I did IT strategic consulting for a substantial part of my career, so I'm wired to look at the current state, desired future state, building alignment in a desire for the future state (defined by asking what is true if you wake up every morning with the sun bright, birds chirping and everything working as it should), establishing priorities around critical success factors (what do we have to be good at in oder to be successful and attain the desired future state),

crafting strategic goals supported by tactical objectives, and finally projects to make the objectives and goals happen.

Yeah, very analytic and structured, but also a methodology that works (assuming periodic reassessment of, hopefully improving, current state and revised concensus future state).

So if our future state is distribution of wealth that eliminates billionaires and diminishes millionaires, maintains key and equalizes the administration and

and consequences of the judicial system, and our current state is what we see around us, extreme inequality, grossly unequal justice and freedoms being undermined, what are the critical success factors we need to put in place if we are to get to that future state?
What strategic goals have to be accomplished to make those factors be true?
