@daringfireball If only the gov cared as much about the 40,000 people killed annually by automobiles. That's = to a 737 crashing and killing everyone on board every 36 hours.

The shift from an product engineering-focused company to a financial engineering company started with the reverse takeover by McDonnell Douglas’s executive leadership in the 1990s.
My father was an aerospace engineer and worked on several Boeing aircraft including 737 and 777. He was aghast at their decision making on 787 Dreamliner. I wish he were alive today.
