There's gonna be so much new & cool guitar gear out of #NAMM in the next week, but nothing is gonna have me excited as #Yamaha finally revamping their Pacifica range of #guitars.

@Theblueone This was the first electric guitar of so many people, and for good reason — they're excellent for the price! I always enjoyed playing them.

@Theblueone private link apparently. I work for Yamaha here in Chicago and they told us about this in October… I wish I'd known about this before I picked up that Schecter!

@samvarma Yeah, it was all up on Sweetwater at 2am here (I was up because of the cat)... looks like someone there jumped the gun and is probably getting chewed out as I type this :)

@samvarma I screen grabbed a few images.... I'm pre-ordering ASAP and will be looking at what guitars here at home will be sacrificed. I've been waiting over a decade for the Pacificas to get updated!

@Theblueone sidenote: I have been in our distribution center processing returns, and even the $600 Pacifica play like a way, way more expensive guitar. It's the one we all found ourselves noodling on.

Another sidenote: someone at Sam Ash was telling me about a corporate event they did where they provided instruments for people to jam with, and every guitar player that could put their hands on the Pacifica

@samvarma I often take my stuff for setups and such here in NYC to Norio Imai - one of the best in the business (done luthier work for John Scofield, Keith Richards, Will Lee, etc). I’ve brought in lots of expensive guitars and he never says anything. I dropped off my 611 Pacifica one time and when I picked it up he said “That is a good guitar.”

My youngest daughter has now taken my 611 and called it hers, so I obviously need one of these new models for myself…

@Theblueone 🤣 yep as reasons go that's solid! Very interesting comment by your guy... I have always found Yamaha to be a thoroughly decent company, never given to shortcuts, or compromising quality anywhere. I had the greenlight to scrap anything that had even the smallest defect, at any price point. And given the scale that Yamaha operates at, I typically see that they can keep a standard at lower price levels that nobody else can match

@samvarma Here’s one you might dig… my 2019 Schecter US Custom shop PT (tele). Nick Johnston spec roasted maple neck, stainless steel frets. Lightly relic’d body. Was like “I want the Johnston neck on Robben Ford’s telecaster”. They didn’t want to do it but finally agreed.

A year later they put out the official “Nick Johnston PT Model”.

@Theblueone that blue one is just sick… Only question for me would be how much abuse can that trem take

@samvarma That blue one is great! I like the sunburst too. There was a nice pink one, white, black and like a lake placid blue one too… both those in the post above were the Japanese made ones.

Two price points, the higher having a compound radius neck, a tweaked body contour & Japanese manufacture. Both had Rupert Neve designed pickups & stainless steel frets.
