@craiggrannell I was lucky enough to work for an Apple dealer in Belfast for a few weeks work experience as a part of my college course around 1989/90.
Whilst I'd lusted after such things on the pages of Byte and PCW, actually getting to use them in real life was an absolute game changer.
@Middaparka I had a C64 at the time I was introduced to the Mac at school. It was quite something to see the future.
Curiously, a lot of friends gravitated towards PCs and told me you needed ‘control’ from a command line and that WIMP was a bad thing. Although that’s probably because they’d decided on their tribe and early Windows was terrible.
