@dozens Interesting. My platform's e-books are HTML in a self-contained folder. Not quite how this document proposes doing it, but I like the thinking.

@nantucketebooks I think your books could be a very interesting implementation of the "portable html" document if they include the audio as well. i can't remember if you do text+audio in the same document or not...

@dozens Yes, I can have built-in audiobooks. The Red Badge of Courage would be a good example. https://nantucketebooks.com/ebooks/pd/redbadge/ The thing is that that self-contained folder can get pretty big when a novel-length audiobook is included.

@dozens @nantucketebooks So it is my understanding that this is a subset of the current epub3 standard. So. Why not just use epub3? It seems like reader software is the issue more than the file format.

@jake @dozens My goal was an e-book that could be read in the browser, no special apps or devices required. Also, sharing them is as easy as sharing a link.
