I have some haunting memories of the smell of that stuff because I cleaned a set of devices for a client with it for two days straight and it really made me not enjoy any drinks with orange zests in them, leave alone orange juice... for. weeks. but! If you need to clean a surface and don't want to use heavy solvents, give WEICON Industrial Citrus Cleaner (with lemonene being the main cleaning agent) a try! It dissolves left over adhesives in the blink of an eye. (not a paid advertisement)
@nblr I developed a citrus allergy after intensive (several weeks) exposure to limonene in a biochemical lab. You should use that stuff carefully! I would prefer acetone in that use case.
@nblr yeah, orange oil based cleaners are also the thing to use for sticky cables (e.g. from old duct tape). Heavy alcohol based solutions would attack the isolation.
The sideboard in the picture above was really sticky and grimy because I had all sorts of mobile phone and radio chargers taped to it. Removing all that crust and gluey gunk took about five minutes. It's a treat. Now I have a decent place for the record player I was meaning to buy for the past 5 years but never got around to because it was too expensive - until one turned up for a laughably decent price on ebay last week.
@nblr 🤔 75% isopropanol as what the manufacturer states for the product, might as well try that first, have it cheap and don't have to suffer from that citric smell
@chris The difference is that the isoprop doesn’t tackle glue while the lemonene does. It’s a real game changer. So instead of just using isoprop, you can get the job done more thoroughly. Also, the isoprop is barely noticeable in this one.

@nblr ich bin auch beides.. ich liebe die Einfachheit eines Streams, höre gerne CD, Aber noch mehr liebe ich es, Schallplatten zu hören.

So viele Platten hat die Sammlung ja nicht, weil nur Color-Vinyl oder selber bei der Aufname oder mindestens dem Konzert bei gewesen. Das limitierts zum Glück ein wenig. Aber mehr als nur für einen Abend sinds schon.
Die Haptik des ganzen Vorgangs gefällt schon mal. “Ne Platte auflegen” ist nochmal was anderes als “Musik hören” 🤗
@nblr pretty toy; fortunately no space to get that ;) -- did have to recheck sound meters, still need something that can indicate I am talking to loud on a conference call call, while the mike auto adjusts the volume down... and one talks louder, and it turns it more down ;)
@jeroen Technically a great task for the RTW peakmeter, but the tooling around getting it into your loop would be ungodly. Probably a software solution is more adequate.
