@ronanmcd darn, here (pl) this word core means only a family of desserts (pudding etc.)

@ronanmcd I think French is defective in this regard though, because French for bean plant is "légumineuse" and for edible beans/lentils it is "légume sec". Similarly, French does not have a proper word for nut, it's "fruit sec" ("noix" is walnut, noix du Brésil is Brazil nut, noix de cajou is cashew nut).
@clafou Aha! That's brilliant - I couldn't find that info in any dictionary. Not sure on nuts though, maybe French is onto something there - cashew nuts are not even nuts (atlleast, not according to pedants, although nut is fine by everyone else 😃 )
