Why are there 50 formulas for ROI that are all using totally different variables this is killing my physics brain aaaah

I can’t assume that the same variable is actually the same variable across equations how do people even get any work done like this

An organization needs to have a revenue stream or some other structure to mitigate short-term shareholder returns.

For instance
Google
Netflix
Amazon
had access to money and leadership who understood how to play the long game and build value.
