The Washington Post is wrong. Google Gemini is not necessarily exposing a left-wing bias but a neo-liberal bias.

You see, the problem with neo-liberalism is that it believes that social progress is possible without economic progress. For this reason, it ignores the greater social context for why social progress must exist: the need for re-distribution of wealth and resources.

For example, neo-liberalism is perfectly fine with providing gender neutral bathrooms – provided that those using the bathrooms are paying customers.

This is why Google was, at first, perfectly fine with rolling out a product that featured gender and racial diverse Nazi soldiers. All the better to create gender and racial diversity even if the context for why that diversity must exist is altogether ignored.

In Google’s world, diversity is fine as long as it serves the greater purpose of concentrating wealth in fewer and fewer hands.

The neo-liberal is fine with you all celebrating your identities provided that identity is monetized. And surprise! Those benefitting from that monetization are likely to be white and male.

The end result is diversity for thee, but not for me.
