There's been a lot of death wishes during the past few days towards multiple people.
But here's what gets me. Out of my own pocket, I'm providing a #Calckey server for people who want defederation from Meta. I already bought a domain, and am setting it all up as we speak.
Are those extremists who are uttering death wishes doing anything tangible besides wishing death upon those who disagree? Are they providing servers that are pre-emptively defederated from Meta? Are they providing any infrastructure for a Meta-free Fediverse?
A lot of us don't have the technical know how to do hosting services like this. All I can do is ditch Universeodon, since this was strike 2 already. No need to wait for strike 3, which is the whole point of this debate - we KNOW what Zuck is going to do.
@atomicpoet Appreciate all that is being done to develop and deliver Calckey services. Many thanks to all involved. Is there some way to contribute financial support to these efforts. In my case it would be a small amount but I'm guessing even small amounts can add up. Thanks again.
@atomicpoet You are right. They’re doing nothing but showing their true colours. What’s odd to me is that I’m learning people don’t truly believe in the Fediverse. If they did there wouldn’t be this persistent craze. There’s tools available & im sure some currently being created to protect instances & users!
People have gatekept for too long, no more pushing your beliefs and opinions on others. Anyone that doesn’t want to federate with Meta block Meta & anyone that federates with them. I don’t get the arguing and trying to convince others. The beauty of the Fediverse is everyone can choose their own path and what is right for them.
@atomicpoet I feel this way about FOSS extremists who call you out for using proprietary software. Like, I’m already using Linux, Firefox, etc etc, and you’re still going to scream at the community for using discord?
@cpgsaw@atomicpoet yeah, people are weird. They believe people are just supposed to throw away connections & friends b/c they use proprietary apps. As if that’s not why it’s “social media” in the first place
