@thomas Depends on the environment one is in. I can go to the doctor wearing a metal shirt. But overall, I'm in a very religious and intolerant environment. I've heard the most vile things yelled at me and I've even been assaulted on the street (with quite a bit of physical damage, broken bones and torn flesh) over pretty mild artwork. That's why I went to see Slayer wearing an Aristocats t-shirt. Why I skipped Marduk, though it was full of police to ensure nothing would happen to concertgoers.
@derthomas@thomas Bucharest, on one of the main boulevards one afternoon. 8 guys coming from the opposite direction thought they'd have a bit of fun and humiliate a 45 kilo rocker girl. I thought they'd stop at words, but they pushed me over a fence with spikes. My upper body smashed into the ground on the other side resulting in a compound fracture and my legs got impaled in the spikes.
The t-shirt in question was the Follow the Reaper one from Children of Bodom, btw.

The most fucked up part is that you really need to think about what you can safely wear and what not. This is a country in Europe, we should be way past this!
@derthomas@thomas Legally, we are. A significant part of the society is. A lady waking her dog and an older man called 112 and prevented them from leaving until the police came.
The problem is people turning to medieval beliefs in a world they find increasingly difficult to navigate and the tribalism that comes with it. And I don't have a crystal ball to know how random people I pass by on the street think.
