I miss when packages took like a week to arrive and there was no overnight postage nonsense (unless you paid a lot for it). Now it is industry standard and I need to be ready to get my package the next day, like...I need at least few buffer days to prepare emotionally.

Also the tracking system is not great and telling me it can come between 8-16 is NOT HELPFUL.

I an up at 8 only in case it arrives now.
Madness, I tell ya.

You know, I have long thought that we'd need something like a parcel kiosk nearby in every part of town (like every 500m or so) where we can pick up packages. At OUR convenience, after getting a notification that they have been delivered there. And within five days or so.

A place that also serves coffee and cookies, and has space to sit and chat if people are so inclined.

And maybe very heavy parcels can still be delivered.

@Firlefanz
We did have a parcel delivery spot near by, but as R-Kiosk (a finnish convinience kiosk brand) started to die out, they started removing kiosks from less profitable spots (their issue was high prices, which they refused to drop). Most bigger kiosks also had a postal delivery cabinets to grab your stuff from within about 5 days.

But as the close by kiosk moved, they took the option with them...so I opted for home delivery, despite the partial invonvinience.

Ah, we only have pick-up boxes, and now they require a phone app to handle, and I don't like phone apps... so I have stuff delivered to my apartment.

My kiosk idea would encourage some level of human interaction, which would actually help a neighborhood. (You choose the level. I can usually handle a little bit of interaction.)

@Firlefanz Your kiosk idea is very cozy. <3

And I imagine it would also be quite fun for those who need interraction more. (:

@Firlefanz Our drop boxes send you a code via text, which you then use the boxes. No extra app.

But mailing system has an app that tracks the delivery ("tracks"), and has some other objectives like "see your bills, which we dont send as a paper version anymore, or straight to your bank for some reason, so you need this app" and "offical papers also come here so you clutter both your hone with them and this damn app". Not a big fan...

I mean, let's do some "tracker math" here.
Package left at 6AM (I feel sorry for those ho had to work overnight sorting packages already) from Vantaa. I live about 2 hours away, depending from driving speed, weather (yes, ice and snow), driver, and other stuff.

Yet package could arrive at four pm.

Math ain't mathing.
I will spend the day in wating mode and a headache.

@hiisikoloart

hugs lots and lots

I keep a "procrastination list" for the times I'm in waiting mode. Stuff that is boring (bookkeeping, Canva graphics, updating backmatter...) or short (pay an invoice).

Stuff that rarely makes me go into hyperfocus.

Maybe that might work for you, as well?

hiisikoloart,

@Firlefanz Doing boring stuff doesn't get me interested enough to move away from the waiting mode. I get so mentally stuck, that only highly fun stuff could potentially get me going...if I can get to it.

Plus I have a headache, and sleepy is about 7/10 so important stuff needs to wait less braindead times. :P

But maybe that trick helps some autistic people who may be reading this. (: In behalf of them, thank you~
