I have an iPad Mini 2 in perfect condition and I don’t know what to do with it. iOS 12 is too old and not many apps work on it. I can’t install Android on it. Is there anything useful I can do with this device? External monitor? Large touchpad?
@darth A perfect example of nice useful tech gone sour. Wouldn't it be nice if there was an "evergreen" last load of OS/Firmware that made it something benign like a 2nd monitor, or ebook reader (books via USB?). there is: https://ipadlinux.org among the options.

Well I have a Kindle so downgrading book reading to an LCD makes little sense. The problem is that I don't like throwing stuff away. Last week I installed /e/ OS on Galaxy S8 and now I love it so much that it is competing with my main phone.
@darth@meuon It is not a problem that you don't like throwing gadgets in good working condition away. It is a problem manufacturers don't support their legacy hardware properly.
@CustodianV131@meuon I grew up with PC’s and I can pull out any pre-2000 PC today and make it useful. Surely it will be slower than modern ones, but they ARE usable to a degree. With locked-in devices such as Apple line-up our hands are mostly tied.
I don’t know why would Apple not unlock ALL their unsupported devices and let us put whatever we want on it? Would that ruin their business? I am talking ONLY about devices which Apple has abandoned.
