I finally get the hang of Super Mario World... Cape Mario plays really differently as opposed to Racoon Mario in SMB3, but the cape also allows for some nice tricks that make some tense situations a lot of fun.

I get that the designers wanted to make the game accessible for casual gamers and challenging for professionals. I find joy in finding secret exits and playing around with the world map. This feeling is pretty unique to this title.

cassiozen,

@deadparrot I recently found out that the game started as a port of Super Mario 3 to the SNES/SFamicom platform, with the final objective of being a revamped version of it. But then the Super Famicom hardware got delayed, and the Mario team kept working on the title, exploring new possibilities until they got to this very unique final game.
It’s amazing what a good team can accomplish when you don’t give them a rushed artificial deadline 😅
