chris,

PSA to the Fediverse Threads — if you want your hashtags to remain intact when your posts are federated, make sure to always include the # prefix.

On the left is Threads, on the right is my post federated and viewed in elk.zone.

Topic tags (without a prefix) are treated as plain text.

@chris @chrismessina unfortunately, it doesn't work like this, I don't think.

I'm pretty sure Threads has to officially add support for it to work.

@BeAware @chris @chrismessina Yes, so far any kind of tag from Threads, #’d or otherwise, has yet to appear clickable to me, a Mastodon user through the Mona app.

@simonwood @BeAware @chris to be clear, even without linkification, the hashtag is preserved as long as there's a # prefix. If you use a Threads-native topic tag, which can include spaces and other characters, it'll be treated as plaintext elsewhere.

At least if you use conventional hashtags on Threads, they'll be searchable as text on the fediverse.

@chrismessina @simonwood @chris ahhh, that's what you mean. I see. I thought you meant that they were clickable on Fedi. Which doesn't seem to be the case.👍 misunderstanding on my part
