Modern 40k has more in common with GRR Martinslop than it does anything authentically right wing and has essentially been redditor edgewank for 30 years.

Chaos, Eldar, Tau, etc, all have aesthetic appeal, you're just cropping the setting down on the spehss mareens to make a narrow point devoid of content or context.
I will continue to hammer this point b/c when people "media literacy" anything else into being right wing they do so using the context/content of the thing itself, only 40k gets the aesthetics only (most of the reason for this is that 40k lore is so impenetrable nowadays that you need like 50 hours of bullshit just to get into it and even then you're only looking at stuff that matters in 2024 40k, missing the context of stuff like the badab war, pre 6th ed lore incongruity, etc).
Pre 5/6th edition 40k used an unreliable narrator, now the setting is attempting to disney-fy itself, new lore necessarily will lack the nuance and vagaries of even stuff from 3rd.
Modern multimedia setting writers can't into subtlety anymore.

You had snippets from peoples direct perspectives and quotes but a lot of it its presented as if "yeah this what happened here at this time" from an outside observer as if it was historical stuff. It was only after 5 and after they started doing the faggot Horus Heresy novels that they started trying to make it as if it was an evolving story because people kept complaining "it wasn't moving".
Like no shit its a space historical, it's supposed to be a snapshot shit that happened during a time period and you can re-enact bits or fill in the blanks withyour own stuff with your buddies. But no people wanted to treat it as a soap opera, so now it is.

Pre 4th lore included shit that could be read as clearly falsified or made up.
Also just because "badab war happened here" doesn't change the fact that og 40k was framed with the emperor being alive sort of. Entire figures' existence in the lore was debatable.
I would argue that the entire house heresy novel series killed oldhammer and issued in reddithammer.
