@dunglas sometimes, depending on the person that says it, I also hear it as "Go fuck yourself, we do whatever we want". Surprisingly it comes a lot from MIT-enthusiasts
@pierstoval as long as the license allows me to fork, I’m fine with that.
Software maintained by a large non-commercial entity or by a co-op is the best (but is often not enough to fix the free labor problem), but commercially supported MIT-like software is still way better than proprietary software.
@dunglas unless MIT is used mostly to have total control over the entire ecosystem and create a huge discrepancy on people that help.
Unless Open Source is a word used for the company to maximise business on the said project.
Unless this control is used in a big egotistical/elitist manner, not considering users at all.
Unless this is all used to eat other projects and increase monopoly.
